Cool art, eclectic environment and a whole lot of delicious pizza! Mellow Mushroom, a delectable, energetic and funky pizza shop will open its doors in Burlington on November 9, 2009. Joey Cathey, a former owner of Special Events Rentals in Raleigh, decided to open the new Mellow Mushroom because he believes Burlington is the perfect place for the fun and funky pizza bakery. Cathey spent two years finding a prime location and developing a store that represents the easygoing and close-knit Burlington community while maintaining the "bohemian-chic" atmosphere and quality food that is synonymous with the Mellow Mushroom name.

Located at 767 Huffman Mill Rd., a quarter mile from Interstate 40, the Burlington Mellow Mushroom features a spacious outdoor patio, a large menu offering a delicious assortment of pizzas, salads, hoagies and calzones with many vegetarian options and true "meat-eater" bill of fare, and a full bar that boasts 50 beers, including 20 on tap. The restaurant features 6 HD TV's with close to 30 speakers, creating an energetic yet comfortable atmosphere perfect for all Burlington residents from young families looking for good food, to rowdy Elon students looking for a night out with friends or a fun place to drink good beer while they watch the game. An eye-catching industrial theme represents the textile business Burlington is known for.

"With guidance from Casey Fox, who owns 3 Mellow Mushrooms in the Triangle, I realized that Burlington is the ideal market for a Mellow Mushroom pizza shop," said Burlington Mellow Mushroom owner Joey Cathey. "I know that the Mellow Mushroom will fit seamlessly into the hip college town and residents will fall in love with the food!"

The Burlington Mellow Mushroom seats 180 people inside and 50 on the patio. It will host programs and events including live music, drink specials, trivia nights and drink & draws. Open 11 a.m. -12 p.m., Mellow Mushroom is great for lunch and dinner, but also doubles as a late-night hangout.
