Mellow Mushroom Descends On Avondale

Charleston, SC (March 22, 2011) - On Monday March 28, 2011 owner of Mellow Mushroom King St, Michael Shemtov, Johnny Hudgins and Joshua Broome, in Charleston, SC will open their second Mellow Mushroom in the Avondale neighborhoodof West Ashley in the former West Ashley Theater.
The owners chose this unique location because they wanted their second store to also be an older space with a story and a soul. Restoring a building was much more attractive than building new. "We're going to do everything we can to maintain andenhance the intrinsic dramatic qualities that come with occupying a theatre. We're inspired by what Urban Outfitters did at the old Garden Theatre (on King Street), andhope we can come within an iota of what they created" say Johnny Hudgins.
To ease parking worries Mellow Mushroom Avondale has teamed up with several area businesses including Triangle Char and Bar, Pearlz Oyster Bar, Voodoo, and Al Di LaItalian, and will now offer complimentary valet from Coastal Valet Parking. The service will start on Thursday, March 24, at 4 p.m. and will continue Thursdays throughSaturdays from 4 to 11, and on Sundays starting at 11 a.m.
